Don’t Trade Your Joy

David lost the joy of his salvation when he took Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife, but he never lost his salvation. He never said “restore to me my salvation”; he said, “Restore to me the joy of my salvation.” — Don’t trade the greatest joy out there, for some other joy. It might look great, but it can never compare. If you are away from that Joy, cry out to God and come back.

  1. Amen brother! I agree with your sentiments. I firmly believe that a lot of people feel as though they have lost their salvation and therefore give up on God, the church and His people. When in all actuality they have just lost their “JOY”! We should always remember that we DO have the greatest joy out there, and in times when we doubt that just look to the “Restorer”.

  2. Brother Trevor and Sister Erika,

You both are so right! Many people are taught in the denominations that they can lose their salvation. So many of the people that I have come in contact with always seem to say “I lost my salvation”. I try to tell them that once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour and truly repented you can not lose your salvation. However, when we backslide or think we have backslidden, we lose the joy of our salvation because deep in our hearts we know or think we have gotten away from God. I have experienced that myself. I made a decision and went through a period of doubt. While doubting that decison I had lost my joy. However, through a message by Bro. Jack called “Banished, But Not Expelled”, I began the healing process of being lost in that cycle. Bro. Caleb’s meassage on the difference between joy and happiness also helped me. Joy is something that is a gift of God and once received can not be lost. HALLELUJAH! 1 Peter 1:3-9

  3. Greetings Brother

That is so true what you’ve said, and I understand your point about not losing salvation.. please don’t take this as a correction, cause I do agree with you, but they are so many times we misquote this scripture on what David said…

The bible says ..”Restore unto me the joy of (thy) salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”

Even though David didn’t lose his salvation, he knew that it was (Thy )”The Lords Salvation” and not his own that saves him, and restore his joy back.. So I see a big difference in saying “Restore unto me the Joy of “My” Salvation , and “Thy” Salvation”

Pslams 37 But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the LORD: [he is] their strength in the time of trouble.

I know that song is very popular that we sing “create in me a clean heart, …and restore unto me the joy of..(many sang it “My”) salvation .. but as we know, they are nothing within us that is good, it’s all HIM, and His Grace.. For For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.. Amen

    God Bless You

  4. Thanks Bro David,

Actually, the first part of the post was Bro Branham’s direct comments. Everything after the “–” is mine.

Truly, it is His salvation…but once He has given it to us. It’s personal. It’s mine!

I do sing “Create in me a clean heart…” with “thy salvation” personally. I love that song!

    God Bless you!

  5. I realize salvation is a seal, not a switch. It’s not something you can turn on or off; nor is it something that can be broken. A seal cannot be broken until it reaches its destination. So, until I reach my destination (heaven) I know the devil can’t break me away from the Seal God has placed on me. The devil may bend me but he can’t break me. He may shake my joy, but he can’t take it. When I look at this scripture it asks GOD to restore the joy. Something can only be restored by the person who has it in their possession. So I know God has my joy, my peace, my happiness, my all and all in HIS hands. The devil may shake it (my joy), but he can’t take it…
